  12. Gaming District Build Competition

Gaming District Build Competition! Febuary 5th - Febuary 19th Location: Gaming district at Spawn ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- There is a new game master in town! (Yes Pie I'm stealing your job....) The last build competition ended about a month ago, which means a new one is long overdue at this point. For Febuary's build competition we have decided to focus on one of the most neglected districts around spawn: The Gaming District! Whether you build something redstoney, aesthetically pleasing or a combination of both does not matter. The winner will be whoever creates the most original and fun experience in the gaming district. However, there can't be a fair competition without a few rules: Builds may be any size, as long as it is less than 70x70 blocks. (Height does not matter.) Builds must be constructed in the gaming district. (If you do not know where that is located feel free to ask either me, @EarthCube or any other member of the Ministry of the Interior.) There may only be one entry per person and one person per entry. (You can build more games if you like, but you can only enter one build into the competition.) Any designs (redstone or otherwise) that are directly copied or based on designs that can be found on YouTube or the test server must be visibly marked as such and the creator of the design must agree to its use. Builds must be lit up! Judges are not liable for any damages done by creepers. Anyone found in violation of these rules will be disqualified after one warning . Builds will be judged by a panel of three judges (@Kaddaschatzi, @EarthCube, @Pandeoo) based on: The Exterior: 3 Points: Build blends in with the environment. There is a clear effort visible to make the game not only functional but also pretty. The techniques used are applied correctly and in the right places. 2 Points: Build shows efforts to create an exterior. There is no open redstone or abrupt terraforming. There is an abrupt change between the build and the environment. There is little effort to make it blend in with the environment. 1 Point: Build sticks out like a sore thumb. Redstone is exposed. There is little to no effort visible to make the build fit in with the surrounding area. The Game: 3 Points: The game has a clear goal which is explained and obvious from the description. It is possible to win (or finish) the game. The redstone used creates little lag (it does not impact the game) and is easy to operate. 2 Points: The game lacks a clear goal. The explanation given is brief and does not answer what the purpose of the game is. The redstone used is complicated to operate and does not work reliably. 1 Point: The game cannot be described as a game. There are no rules (or a description). It is not possible to finish the game. The redstone used can not be operated from the game lobby and it barely functions Creativity: 3 Points: The entry is original. It inspires the player to play it over and over again. It does not get boring after the first try. 2 Points: The entry is creative even though the idea is not new. The player is inspired to play it more than once. 1 Point: The entry is neither creative nor original. The design can be found everywhere on YouTube, and it is not fun to play after the first try. Judge's personal opinion: 1 - 3 Points (based on the experience while play testing the game). Monday, Febuary 19th will be the last day to work on the entries. Judging will begin on Tuesday. The winners will be annouced the following weekend. Now to answer the question everyone is dieing to ask. What are the prizes going to be? Well it will be worth it! 1st place: 64 Diamond blocks, 1 beacon 2nd place: 32 Diamond blocks, 32 shulker shells 3rd place: 16 Diamond blocks, 1 enchanted elytra On behalf of the judges I wish everyone the best of luck with this competition. We are excited to see what you can come up with! If you should have any questions please DM either @Kaddaschatzi or @EarthCube on discord or right here on the Forums. To sign up for the competition please answer on this post.

  15. A Great Empire Expands into Everneth.

-February 1st, 2018- Figured I should start this post with the results of last times. The twin towers bordering the wheat gate are perfect for covering its flanks and give me plenty of room for sea-watching balistae. Some more decoration along with internal infrastructure needs to be done, but the externals alone give an epic feel and although I might have to mess with some of the arcs, I had a fun time experimenting with the open walls. You can also climb to the very top for a bird's eye view of the city. Next up is the wheat portion of the wheat gate. Kingstone evolves with me, and since enjoying Stardew Valley so much lately, the farmhouse is filled with my character and his wife. The wheat terraces will be a time consuming by satisfying piece of work since it is a lot of organic and terraforming building. Gonna be placing custom trees and resting benches or workstations here and there and make sure that there is enough room in the roads for horse carts etc. The docks will have minimal storage outside the walls since we want to keep most of that protected, the kingdom also insures the farmhouse. Below is a rough idea of how the "terraces" will work. Lots of retaining walls and waterfalls. Should end up feeling really warm, cozy, and little dirty.
  16. What is your favorite book?

I don't read much anymore, but I have a few old favorites. Like everyone, I've read the Harry Potter series which was cool. I also really enjoyed the "Inheritance Cycle" by Christopher Paolini. Also known as the Eragon series, it had a pretty shitty end, but exploring that world and the amazing locations and communities in there was great, as well as a wonderous tale of a world with dragons and magic and war. Funny you should mention books all of a sudden, since just an hour and a half ago I started listening to an ebook titled "The Witcher - The Last Wish". The Witcher series is quite popular and I believe "The Witcher 3" to be the best single player game created. However, I chose not to continue playing since I wanted to read all the books and play the first two games. It is a great thing to listen to while building Kingstone since they both have a lot of fantasy and violence.
  17. What is your favorite book?

Mine is Cryptonomicon. Three generations of mathematicians and codebreakers work from the end of World War Two to 1999 to find gold buried by the Japanese in a bid to continue the war after the peace treaty is signed. It has treasure hunting, cryptography, math, architecture, lawyers, philosophy, debate, romance, and it's over a thousand pages long. I read it over the course of a week during a camping trip. Runner-up is Ender's Game for accurate portrayal of intelligent children.

@Hoodiey i love building castles! my favorite that i built was a fantasy quartz castle that was on top of a purple floating island. I used prismarine for details and man was it awesome. We ended up using it for a hide and seek map

  25. January 24th A new day has dawned. When I awoke this morning, in the middle of town, without a clue as to where I could be or what I was doing, I remembered it. The place I had come from, the memories of the days past, and the events that lead me to now... I came from the bar, obviously. But what a night! It has robbed me of all my memories! I know who I am, I know what I stand for... but it is the details in specificity that elude me. I don't remember my home, my peoples, my history. However, if there is one thing that I know, one thing that I am good at... it is starting again. Afresh. Anew. Another descriptor. Immediately I went to a shop and purchased a map. Was my old life a dream? Nothing was familiar. No landmarks, no towns, no outposts. All I saw was mystery, and new beginnings. I decided I was to start a new life to the south- far from the city, and in the middle of a place that would become my home. Even if it were not a dream, I knew I must have it back. Fort Dragonheart. It must rise again. It must, for I am the last hope for the villages of Everneth. I must make a home... and I must gather a flock.
  26. The Overworld is a land of wonder, danger, excitement, and boundless opportunity. It is filled with soaring mountains, cavernous depths, and expansive oceans. From peaceful wild animals roaming the plains and forests to the undead lurking in every dark corner of the world, one group of docile life forms stands taller than all the rest. I am, of course, talking about the peaceful Villagers. The villages lay spread out across the land of Everneth, just sitting there, open and exposed. In many cases, unlit. During my travels, I have encountered villages with houses blocked with stone bricks. The villagers were helplessly trapped inside by some unknown person or persons. I decided that I had had enough. For many years, I made it my mission to protect villagers, because they were simply defenseless. I built walls, lamp posts, new homes and churches, and received nothing in reward but food and a bed for the night. It was a service, an honor. Now, I'm bringing my mission to the people of Everneth. The Dragonhearted is a guild independent of the factions and national interests dominating the land. Politics does not exist within areas protected by the Dragonhearted. The guild does not seek to assert power over other citizens of Everneth, nor their individual factions and governments. The Dragonhearted exist for one purpose only: To be the first and last line of defense for the peaceful villagers of Everneth. The guild is guided by six tenets that every member is expected to follow: Protect without hesitation. Uphold freedom and stop oppression. Enhance, not interfere. Create safety, not chaos. Co-exist, not conquer. Uphold these tenets for villagers and fellow knights. The Dragonhearted guild is based from my personal home town of Fort Dragonheart. The tenets and member list are visible in Dragonheart Keep, where guild business is conducted. The guild is home to a communal crafting and storage area that members are free to exchange items in and use as a safe haven on their travels. In exchange for these rewards, members of the guild are sworn to protect villagers and their homes wherever they may be, and establish peaceful trading and rest stops for adventurers passing through. Those wishing to join the Dragonhearted may contact me through PM, posting in this thread, or by messaging me while I am online on the server. Thanks for reading!
  27. My two biggest genres include country and rock- I'm more into the hair bands and glam rock and that sort of thing. As a Wyoming boy, though, I love me some Chris LeDoux.
