UHC is a gamemode designed to test every aspect of a player's prowess. It requires you to be resourceful as you react to the hand that the world deals you when you spawn, it requires you to be swift in gathering resources and surviving the monsters of the night, and occasionally, it requires you to work in sync with a partner. This is one of those times.

In this season of Ultra Hardcore, players will be allowed to invite a teammate from outside the server. They will be able to participate alongside you, fighting for victory just as you are. Should you not have a friend to bring along on your adventure, don't worry; you'll be paired with another player who also lacks a second, but be aware that all such pairings will be completely random.

To accommodate our new players, this season features the return of a mechanic last used over a year ago; all players will find themselves with two Absorption hearts that refresh every 60 seconds. This shield will grant you a slight buffer, hopefully preventing you from having your health chipped down by the environment before you even come across an enemy.

Lastly, this season features a number of sweeping balance changes which will also affect all future matches. They're listed in detail further down this post, and it's strongly recommended that you give them a look; they're likely to fundamentally affect your strategy!

For those who have not had the pleasure of participating in a UHC match before, it is a PvP event in which players are spread throughout a world of naturally-generated Minecraft terrain, and natural health regeneration is turned off. The only way to regain lost health is by eating a golden apple, drinking a Potion of Healing, or by eating a golden head. The last team standing is the victor!



  • Dead players must cut off all communication with all other players. There are no exceptions for any reason.
  • Trapping Nether Portals is not allowed.
  • Potions of Regeneration are banned; ghasts will drop gold ingots instead of tears.
  • Players are safe from PvP for the first 20 minutes of the match. An automated message will be posted in the in-game chat after 20 minutes have passed.
  • Mods are not allowed, with the exceptions of Optifine and the Replay Mod.
  • Skybasing - defined as building high up into the air to create an artificial chokepoint - is banned.
  • Branch mining is banned. Staircasing and digging downwards are both acceptable, but you must explore caves to find your treasures.



The following section will detail the ways in which matches of UHC differ from vanilla survival. Largely, the game will function exactly the same, but a few minor tweaks have been made to encourage exciting and fair gameplay. In the future, these rules will be listed in the Ultra Hardcore hub post instead of in season announcements.

  • When players die, they will drop their head. If you surround the head with gold ingots in a crafting table, you will create a Golden Head, which, when eaten, will restore twice as much health as a golden apple does.
  • Endermen will always drop an ender pearl.
  • Endermen have a 20% chance of dropping 1 dragon's breath.
  • Blazes will always drop one blaze rod.
  • Zombie Pigmen will always drop 1-2 gold nuggets (previously had a 50% chance of dropping 1)
  • Zombie Pigmen have a 50% chance of dropping nether wart.
  • Horses & llamas will always drop at least one leather.
  • Baby wolves will never grow up (and thus cannot be bred exponentially).
  • Tamed wolves have 8 health points (the same as their wild counterparts) instead of 20.


Everyone wants to be the best.

Champion - Awarded to the last team standing!
Ironman - Awarded to the last player to receive a point of damage.
Sanguine - Awarded to the player to slay the most opponents.
Midas - Awarded to the player to acquire and eat the most Golden Apples.
First Blood - Awarded to the first player to kill an opponent.


As always, this season will be hosted on games.everneth.com - the server will open 15 minutes before the scheduled starting time. The game will begin at 1:05 PM, and anyone arriving later will be automatically put into spectator mode and will not be able to participate in the match. Don't be late; we can't start over for you!
